JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview:
Plans, coordinates, and directs quality processes designed to ensure quality control, quality assurance, and improvement of the production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. The Quality Manager is responsible for performing and directing Quality Audits of the QMS system to maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and Dexter requirements for the Dexter Vents & Doors Business Unit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design reviews, test, and/or integration to assure quality standards of product components and/or systems are achieved.
- Performs quality engineering reviews and/or design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality specifications and company quality records.
- Review purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
- Documents data obtained during all quality assurance
activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
Leads problem-solving activities to solve critical problems. Drive root cause and corrective actions – Must own and lead the quality process. - Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities. Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
- Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
- Work with Engineering and Production to address any internal quality concerns and corrective actions.
- Prioritize quality improvement activities.
- Utilize quality improvement training, activities, and policies.
- Manage all documentation and reporting requirements for the quality system.
- Develop performance improvement targets for quality.
Perform statistical analysis and data analysis Assist in Warranty claims processing/investigations. - Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
- Any other requirements as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Direct supervisory experience in a plant-based Quality Department.
- Proven ability to lead teams in alignment with organizational policies and applicable labor laws.
- Safety-conscious mindset and commitment to a safe work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated experience in:Interviewing, hiring, and training employees. Addressing complaints and resolving personnel issues.
- Planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Conducting performance appraisals, and administering rewards and discipline.
- Background in environments utilizing Six Sigma, Toyota Production System, Kaizen, or other lean manufacturing methodologies.
ISO or TS certification experience is highly desirable. - Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in applying statistical process control (e.g., control charts, gage R&R studies).
- Effective in collaborative, team-oriented settings, reliable, with a strong work ethic.
EDUCATION:
Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Quality or comparable discipline.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, or hold IATF16949/ISO 9001 Supplier Audit Certification (may substitute recent TS16949/ISO 9001 audit certification for IATF16949/ISO 9001).
